I was looking at my project notification email and I got this from a lady wanting a logo design:

I'm looking to have a logo designed for my boutique marketing agency. In terms of feel, I would like for the design to reflect a company that is polished and refined, yet creative (not at all stodgy). I want it to bring to mind something along the lines of the creativity witnessed in the VW ad (the one where the kid has a longer left foot) rather than the creativity of the Quiznos ads. I envision a traditional Times New Romanish font paired with an original image/design element. I would like for the logo to have a subtle power, to be remarkable without being overbearing about it. In terms of color, I'm thinking deep reds or maybe a burnt orange. I realize this is all a bit nebulous and asking for quite a lot. But if something about these thoughts has stirred your creative juices, I very much look forward to hearing from you.
How the hell do you get anything through to a designer when you are trying to explain a logo idea while comparing TV ads?
