Recieved a RFP from a fair sized insurance agency, they wanted an combo website/extranet to market their firm and also move much of their HR processes online.
They wanted design, dynamic programming, CMS on all pages, plus scheduling calendars for exec's, employee bulletin board, newsletter, materials cart where branch offices could order signage, schwag and marketing collateral from a central location, and more.
Came time for the big proposal... we knew they were tight, so pared everything into a spare 6K bid (one of the lowest we'd done).
After the presentation was done, there's a period of silence, then the VP in charge of making the desicion, lets out a sigh and says "what? six thousand dollars for a web site!?, it's just a web site, my kid makes web sites."
"You really think you can get six thousand dollars for a web site?"
