A client hired me to do the design work for a series of web applications another company was hired to develop. All I had to do was put together the images, XHTML and CSS and they would integrate it with their apps, but for some reason they did not know how to do this. They hired and fired several developers, and each one would ask for the files, I'd send them along, and then later I'd hear they had left or were fired. This project has gone on for at least two years.
But the worst part is that a few months ago I visited the portal site I had designed for the company, and it had been replaced by something totally different. I learned someone at the development company went to someone at the client company higher up than my contact person and convinced them to replace my work and start over with them. It's unbelievable because my client has spent tons of money with this one company, have little to show for it, and now they are chasing good money with even more money. And I did what was asked of me and actually completed the task, and it got tossed.
