A friend of mine with whom I have not spoken in a while messages me online.
Here is the conversation that transpired (paraphrased.)
Her: Hey I need your help!
Me: Sure, what's the problem?
Her: I just got a new laptop but accidentally switched it to French mode and now I'm typing French letters, what do I do?
Me: Huh? What do you mean?
Her: Well when I want to type (some character) but instead it's giving me an accented French character!
At this point I'm thinking she probably just accidentally hit some key combination which switches the input language. So I ask her to try a few things, none of which work. Hmm, it's starting to sound like this isn't Windows' typical language bar, but some other custom program included with the laptop.
I then ask her to send me a screenshot of her laptop, so I can see what icons she has in her system tray to further guide her.
Me: Ok minimize all programs and press Print Screen. Then just paste it into MS Paint and send it to me.
Her: I don't have MS.
Me: Yes you do have MS Paint, it comes with Windows.
Her: This is too complicated... I'll just use my restore CD.
Me: *bloodcurdling scream of agony*
