I did tech support for a suburban school district one summer, and we were setting up new computers in an elementary school that was undergoing renovation. Because the construction was disrupting the network, we had setup wireless for the building and were replacing the desktops with laptops with wireless cards. Here's the conversation I had while setting up the computers in one teacher's classroom:
Me: "Is there an outlet around here somewhere?" (There wasn't one visible near where she wanted the computers)
Teacher: "Oh, it's behind that shelf there."
(I go and move the shelf a few inches and plug in the computers)
Teacher: "What do you need to do that for?"
Me: "Well, the batteries won't last forever..."
Teacher: "But I thought we were switching to wireless!"
We gave these teachers their own laptops to do work on, and when moving things around over the summer, we found a surprising number of power cords for said machines left on their desks.
