Friday afternoon, manning the Data Center desk:
A call from a client is transferred, seems the client has sold his small Christmas gift website and shopping cart and wants everything transferred into the new owners name and control.
By end of day everything is set, identities validated, contracts are signed, and instructions executed from the new owner concerning email accounts, etc.
Monday morning get a frantic call from former client - "Did you change the password on my email, it won't let me in!"
Me: Which email account are we talking about?
Former Client: My BigGuy@solddomain.com.
Me: No, I deleted that account, the new owner didn't want it.
Former Client: (Frantic) No you can't, I get all my important mail on that account, I need it back!
Me: Well, you'll have to call the site owners and ask them if they want to provide that to you.
Sheesh, a classic case of not thinking things through...
